Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information SORTIE LABS LLC (“SORTIE,” “we,” “us”) collects through https://sortielabs.net (the “Website”), how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. We keep the Website simple on purpose: we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
1. Who we are
SORTIE LABS LLC is a Missouri limited liability company, operating under the brand SORTIE. We are the business responsible for personal information collected through the Website. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Waitlist information
If you join the waitlist, we collect and store:
- your email address (required);
- your first name (optional);
- a record of your consent: the date and time (UTC) and the version of the consent wording you agreed to; and
- a salted hash of your IP address. This is a one-way, keyed value used to limit abuse and to show a sign-up was not automated. It is pseudonymous rather than anonymous. We do not store your raw IP address or your browser’s user-agent string with your waitlist record.
Messages you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Technical data
Our hosting provider’s servers may automatically log standard request data, such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time, for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept by the hosting provider under its own retention schedule.
What we do not collect
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking pixels. We do not collect payment information on the Website, because it does not take payments. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information.
3. How we use information
- To send the launch updates, early-access news and studio-availability messages you opted in to.
- To respond to your inquiries.
- To prevent spam, abuse and fraud, and to keep the Website secure, including rate-limiting repeated sign-ups.
- To keep a record of your consent, and to meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not make decisions about you through automated profiling.
5. Third-party content
Our pages load a styling script from the Tailwind CSS content delivery network at cdn.tailwindcss.com. When your browser requests it, that provider receives technical information such as your IP address and browser details, as with any web request, and handles it under its own policies. Our fonts and animation scripts are served from our own domain.
7. Retention
We keep waitlist information until you ask us to remove it or until we close the waitlist. We then delete it within 30 days of the request or closure. We may keep a minimal record that you unsubscribed so that we respect your choice. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to respond and to keep business records.
8. Security
We limit access to waitlist data, store it in a location that is not served publicly by the web server, hash IP addresses with a secret salt, and use HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
9. US state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the privacy laws of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, Montana and other states, may give you the right to:
- know and access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your personal information;
- receive a portable copy of your information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling (we do none of these); and
- not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
How to make a request. Email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request,” and tell us what you would like us to do. We will need to verify that the request comes from you, normally by replying to the email address on the waitlist. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with proof of authority. We respond within 45 days, and we may extend that once by up to 45 more days if we tell you why.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal by emailing us with the subject “Appeal.” Where the law requires it, we respond to appeals within 60 days and explain our decision. You may also contact your state attorney general.

Shine the Light. California residents may ask once a year for information about personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We make no such disclosures.
10. California: CalOPPA, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Under the California Online Privacy Protection Act, we post this policy and describe the information we collect above. We do not track you across other websites or online services over time. Because of that, a Do Not Track browser signal does not change how the Website behaves. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of; we honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request not to.
11. Canada: PIPEDA and CASL
If you are in Canada, we handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the unchecked consent box on the waitlist form. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal restrictions, and you may ask to access or correct your information or raise a concern by emailing [email protected]. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), we send commercial electronic messages only with your express consent. Our messages identify SORTIE LABS LLC as the sender, include our contact information and explain how to unsubscribe, and we honor unsubscribe requests without delay and no later than 10 business days.
12. Children
The Website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them, consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Email (CAN-SPAM)
Our commercial emails will identify us as the sender, use accurate subject lines and sender details, include a valid physical postal address, and offer a clear way to unsubscribe. We honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. To unsubscribe, reply to any message or email [email protected].
14. Where data is stored
Waitlist data is stored in the United States. If you use the Website from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
15. Links to other sites
The Website links to some third-party sites, such as Apple’s support pages. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read them.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. If a change is material, we will post a notice on the Website and, where the law requires, ask for your consent again.
